Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam on Tuesday stressed the need to ensure that the benefits of scientific and industrial research reach the people, urging the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) to showcase its research-based products and innovations to local young entrepreneurs.
He said innovations developed through scientific research should not remain confined to laboratories but be transformed into commercially viable products that contribute to economic growth, employment generation and public welfare.
The minister made the remarks during a view-exchange meeting with the BCSIR officials at the council.
He said the resources developed through BCSIR's research must be marketed and commercialised.
Faqir Mahbub Anam, also posts, telecommunications and information technology, urged officials and employees of the organisation to work with sincere dedication to implement the current government's election manifesto.
He called upon everyone to work with a fixed goal and urged the staff to complete the day's tasks within the day itself.
Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain spoke at the event as a special guest.
BCSIR Chairman Dr Samina Ahmed made a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the activities and management of the organisation, as well as the operations of its subordinate units.
Following the meeting, the minister inspected samples of products developed by the 12 units of the organisation on the BCSIR floor and also visited the BCSIR mobile van.
Later, he addressed a separate view-exchange meeting with the scientists of BCSIR as the chief guest.
In his speech, Faqir Mahbub Anam assured the scientists that their professional demands and grievances will be resolved in accordance with the law and relevant regulations.
