The conference was jointly organised by Bangla and English departments of the university.
Cumilla University VC Prof. Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury addressed the inaugural session as chief guest while Professor Dr Biswajit Ghosh, Vice-Chancellor of Rabindra University along with JU English department's Professor Shafi Ahmed were honorary guests.

Associate Professor Dr. G. M. Moniruzzaman, dean of Arts and Humanities Faculty chaired the programme where departmental heads, teachers and students of different faculties were also present.
Professor Dr Biswajit Ghosh said in his speech, Rabindranath Tagore has written vast amount of literature.
“To know Rabindranath properly, one has to read his writings, has to think deeply about it and know the background of each writings”, he added.
