Dhaka, Dec 4 (UNB) – A court here on Tuesday ordered the investigation officer to interrogate BNP leader Nipun Roy Chowdhury and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Arifa Sultana Ruma at the jail gate in a case filed over the November 14 Nayapaltan clash.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after the investigation officer of the case produced the duo before the court and sought a seven-day remand.
The court also rejected the bail petitions of the accused.
Earlier on November 15, detectives detained Nipun Roy Chowdhury from the city’s Kakrail area while Ruma was arrested on the same day from the High Court area.
On November 14, at least 50 people, including 23 policemen, were injured in a clash between BNP leaders and activists and law enforcers in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office on the third day of its nomination-paper sale.
