A section of Islamic University Officers’ Association (IUOA) observed work abstention for the third consecutive day to press for their 13-point charter of demands on the campus in Kushtia on Wednesday.
Around a hundred officers observed the abstention in front of the university’s administrative building from 11 am to noon, halting administrative activities.
Their demands include increasing salary, raising retirement age to 62 years, and office hours from 8am to 2pm.
“We’ll intensify our movement if our demands are not met soon,” officers’ association President Shamsul Islam Zoha said.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, also the acting vice-chancellor, said that they did not know anything about the demands of the officials.
He said the demands would be met if they complied with the rules and regulations of the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education.
