A student of the department of Communication and Multimedia Journalism at Islamic University in Kushtia died on campus Tuesdau after suffering a bout of respiratory difficulties.
The deceased student was identified as Tarikul Islam under 2020-21 academic session.
He was taken to the Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital after developing breathing problems in the afternoon. The on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.
Family and departmental sources said that Tarikul had been suffering from breathing difficulties for a long time.
During the last Eid-ul-Adha, he spent three days in an intensive care unit following a panic attack. Although his condition improved somewhat, he experienced similar problems again on Tuesday.
Tanmoy Saha Joy, an assistant professor and chairman of the department, said Tarikul Islam was a student of the first batch of my department. I knew him as a creative person with practical knowledge.
‘It is unimaginable that Tarikul, who had only recently completed his honours degree, would pass away so early,’ he added.
