The colourful Rath Yatra procession of Lord Jagannath, one of the most important religious festivals of the Hindu community, was held peacefully in the capital on Thursday under a comprehensive security arrangement by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The procession began at 3:00 pm from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple at Swamibagh.
To ensure the festival was celebrated without any untoward incidents, the DMP deployed a large number of police personnel along the entire procession route and surrounding areas as part of a coordinated security plan.
The DMP's Traffic Division also managed vehicular movement, while detectives in plain clothes maintained strict surveillance to ensure overall security throughout the event.
The procession started from the Swamibagh ISKCON temple and passed through Joykali Temple intersection, Ittefaq intersection, Shapla Chattar, Dainik Bangla intersection, the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Paltan intersection, the National Press Club, Kadam Foara, the High Court Mazar area, Doel Chattar, the Central Shaheed Minar, Jagannath Hall and Palashi before concluding peacefully at the Dhakeshwari National Temple.
