Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the victims of the tragic bus accident at Daulatdia Ferry Ghat in Rajbari.
In a Facebook post, he said, “May Allah Almighty grant Jannatul Firdaus to those who lost their lives in this heartbreaking incident. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
He also urged the authorities concerned to promptly complete rescue operations, uncover the real cause of the accident, and take effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Dr. Rahman emphasized that the government must take urgent and visible steps to ensure discipline and safety in the transport sector.
He expressed sincere gratitude to all rescue workers, including the fire service personnel, for their tireless efforts during this difficult time.
“Let us all stand by the victims and pray to Allah Almighty—may He protect everyone from such dangers,” he added.
Till 12:45am, Rescuers have recovered fourteen bodies from the bus that plunged into the Padma River at Daulatdia Ghat in Goalanda Upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
Of the deceased, two were identified as Rehena Akhter and Morjina Begum.
Currently, two passengers are receiving treatment at Daulatdia Upazila Health Complex, while another is being treated at home, UNB correspondents report from the scene.
