A Jashore court has sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment for killing his wife in 2011.
The convicted fugitive Abdul Hamid Moral is a resident of Khajura Paschimpara of Sharsha Upazila.
Special District Judge Samsul Haque, also fined him Tk 20,000 in default of which he will have to serve another six months in prison, said Sajjad Mustafa Raja, special public prosecutor at the court.

According to court sources, on January 29, 2011, Abdul Hamid locked into an altercation with his wife Amena Begum around 3pm over a family dispute. At one stage, Hamid hacked Amena with a wood chopper, leaving her seriously injured.
Amena was immediately rescued and admitted to Jashore General Hospital where she died on February 1 while undergoing treatment there.

Billal Hossain Moral filed a case against his father on the charge of killing his mother.
SM Azizur Rahman, sub-inspector of Sharsha police station investigated the case and submitted the charge sheet to the court on June 28, 2011.

An arrest warrant was issued against the accused.
