JS adopts condolence motion on death of sitting MP of Bagerhat Mozammel Hossain


Parliament on Monday unanimously adopted a condolence motion expressing profound grief at the demise of parliament member elected from Bagerhat-4 M Mozammel Hossain.

Mozammel Hossain, also a valiant freedom fighter and former state minister, passed away at a hospital in Dhaka on January 10 at the age 80.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the condolence motion in the House at the beginning of day's business.

Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Tofail Ahmed, Matia Chowdhury, Mohammad Nasim, Social Welfare Minster Nuruzzaman Ahmed, Abul Kalam Azad, Shahjahan Khan, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Mrinal Kanti Das, ASM Firoze, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Rashed Khan Menon, Abdus Shahid, AFM Ruhal Haque, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury took part in the discussion.

A munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed souls was offered in the House. Ruhul Amin Madani, AL MP elected from Mymensingh-7 constituency, conducted the munajat.

According to the parliamentary tradition today's business was adjourned in honour of late MP M Mozammel Hossain.
