The committee came up with the recommendation at its 4th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairperson Simeen Hussain (Rimi) in the chair, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
At the meeting, the parliamentary body discussed preservation of folk songs particularly moribund Bhawaiya Sangeet of Chilmari in Kurigram district.
The committee members were informed about the activities of the Nazrul Institute. Some 13,481 songs were preserved in the archive of Bangladesh Shipakala Academy and the National Achieve in 2016 as part of the folk culture collection and preservation programme.
The parliamentary watchdog suggested taking measures to collect folk songs with local tunes of every district.
Committee members State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Momotaz Begom, Kazi Keramat Ali, Ashim Kumar Ukil and Suborna Mustafa attended the meeting.
