The first meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry on Thursday recommended filling vacant posts in the ministry and its agencies on a priority basis to strengthen the country’s aviation and tourism sectors.
The meeting, chaired by committee chairman Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui, was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
The committee chairman urged the ministry to implement Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s policy of “Bangladesh First” and maintain a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
He advised the ministry and its agencies to carry out their activities with transparency and accountability while ensuring coordination and keeping the institutions free from corruption.
At the meeting, detailed activities of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Bangladesh Tourism Board and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation were presented as part of efforts to develop Bangladesh as a major aviation hub and an attractive tourism destination.
The committee recommended that the ministry submit a detailed report on the implementation status of its ongoing activities and the posts that are currently vacant.
It also recommended taking necessary measures on a priority basis to fill the vacant posts.
The committee advised the ministry and its agencies to work in coordination to build a modern, safe and internationally standard aviation and tourism sector, while embracing the principle of “Work to build the country” as an effective team with honesty and dedication.
The chairman thanked all concerned for their cooperation in ensuring the smooth conduct of the committee’s activities.
