A local leader of JSD Chhatra League, student front organization of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, was stabbed to death by miscreants at Golapnagar in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Naif Ahmed Tushar, vice-president of Mokarimpur union unit of JSD Chhatra League.
A group of 34-40 assailants on 20 motorbikes arrived at Golapnagar Bazar around 8 pm when Tushar was sitting at a tea stall, said Zahirul Haque, officer-in-charge of Bheramara Police Station, quoting witnesses.

They stabbed Tushar indiscriminately and fled the scene, leaving him injured.
Tushar was first taken to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 10:30 pm.
Benazir Ahmed Benu, general secretary of Mokarimpur union unit of JSD, said the attackers came from the residence of Shahjahan Ali, joint general secretary of Bheramara upazila unit of BNP, for Iftar and returned to the residence after the murder.
Police are trying to arrest the attackers, said the OC.
