SM Sadat Hossain, fighting for the general secretary’s post, accused the EC of pressuring him to withdraw from the race.
“It also tried to illegally cancel my candidacy,” he alleged on Wednesday afternoon on Wednesday afternoon. “I’ve lost faith in the commission.”
He claimed that the EC illegally gave the presiding officer responsibility for preparing ballot papers. “It’s illegal,” Sadat said, placing an eight-point demand, including the use of transparent ballot boxes, for a free and fair election.
Election Commissioner Professor Badiar Rahman said no other candidate had raised such allegations. “If anyone informs us, then we’ll look into it,” he said.
There are 101 posts in JUAA executive committee. Ninty-nine candidates have already been elected unopposed.
Now, 700 voters will elect general secretary. Abu Bakr Siddique, a former Registrar of the university, will fight in the election against Sadat.
