The July Shaheed Smrity Foundation has provided financial assistance to 91 injured individuals and the family of 1 martyr.
One of the beneficiaries, Babul Sarder, a Bangladeshi expatriate working in South Africa, tragically lost his son, Abdur Rahman Jishan, during the student protests on July 20, 2024.
After coming to Bangladesh for his son’s final rites, he faced difficulties returning to his workplace due to financial constraints, said the government.
The July Shaheed Smrity Foundation supported him in returning to South Africa.
The foundation remains "committed to supporting" the families of those injured and shaheed during the July Revolution Protest.
Meanwhile, the interim government on Sunday published a preliminary list of the people who died during the student-led mass protests in July and August.
Earlier on September 24, the government published a draft list of 708 names on the website of the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The draft list has further been evaluated and the preliminary list was released today.
The names and identities of the deceased were collected from different public and private hospitals.
The list can be accessed at https://medical-info.dghs.gov.bd/
Quoting the available public reports by media and the protest movement itself, the UN rights body said between 16 July and 11 August, more than 600 people were killed, according to the report titled “Preliminary Analysis of Recent Protests and Unrest in Bangladesh.”
Nearly 400 deaths were reported from 16 July to 4 August, while around 250 people were reportedly killed following the new wave of protests between 5 and 6 August.
