Vernacular daily Kaler Kantho has completed 12 years of its journey in the Bangladeshi media landscape.
The newspaper, owned by one of the country's largest conglomerates the Bashundhara Group through its subsidiary East West Media Group Limited, kicked off celebrations by cutting a cake in the conference room of EWMGL in Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital Monday morning.
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir inaugurated the daylong celebration by attending as the chief guest and wished a good transition of the daily into its 13th year.
He also congratulated all journalists and employees of the Kaler Kantho on making the journey successful by their efforts.
EWMGL Director and former Editor of Kaler Kantho Imdadul Haq Milan, Kaler Kantho Editor Shahed Mohammad Ali, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Banglanews24 Editor Jewel Mazhar, Daily Sun Executive Editor Rezaul Karim Lotus, News24 Head of News Rahul Raha and EWMGL Publisher Maynal Hossain Chowdhury attended the cake-cutting ceremony.
The newspaper is observing the anniversary in a scaled-down manner amid pandemic situation.
Addressing the programme, noted littérateur Imdadul Haq Milan said all the media outlets under EWMGL including Kaler Kantho, Bangladesh Pratidin, Daily Sun, NEWS24, T-Sports TV and Radio Capital are dominating the sector of the country under the apt guidance of the management.
He also expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan for making all dreams of the largest conglomerate and EWMGL true by giving continuous support and instructions.
“All the success happens due to noble initiative of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir. It is due to them that EWMGL has emerged as the leading media hub in the country,” he said.
The journalists, other staff members, contributors and well-wishers of the newspaper were present.
The Kaler Kantho started journey on January 10, 2010 as a broadsheet.
