KOICA Bangladesh Alumni Association (KBAA) in collaboration with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) held a tree plantation event at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Wednesday.
About 500 trees were planted on the hospital grounds as part of a volunteer initiative for social responsibility, aimed at contributing to better overall health outcomes and having a big impact on the well-being of NICVD's patients, visitors, and staff.
Mir Jamal Uddin, director of NICVD, expressed his gratitude to South Korea for its contribution.
"Trees can create a calming and relaxing atmosphere, which can help reduce stress and anxiety often associated with hospital environments," he said.
Nasima Begum, president of KBAA and member (secretary) of the Planning Commission, said South Korea is a significant development partner of Bangladesh and extends cooperation in various fields.
Planting trees in hospital environments can be a cost-effective and sustainable way to promote healing and wellness, she added.
Hyun Suh Kang, deputy country director of KOICA, hoped that this meaningful event will help make the hospital and its surroundings more beautiful, and provide a cleaner and healthier environment. Further trees can create a soothing atmosphere that promotes relaxation and well-being."
