Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan said this on Saturday after visiting the construction site of 64-kilometre broad gauge line from Khulna to Mongla.
“Installation of Khulna-Mongla broad gauge rail line will have to be completed within the given time at any cost. And 75% of the project has already been completed,” the minister said.

“Khulna-Mongla rail connectivity is vital for us as goods can be easily transported across the country through Mongla port.”
It will allow Bangladesh’s neighbours – including India, Nepal, and Bhutan – to do more trade with the country, too.
Also, the rail connectivity between Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar and on the Padma Bridge would be introduced by 2022, Sujan said.
