The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on Thursday organised a workshop aimed at promoting peer learning, knowledge exchange and community-led solutions to strengthen sustainable development initiatives in Bangladesh.
The KOICA-NGO Partnership Enhancement Workshop 2026 brought together representatives from ADRA, Global Care, Heart to Heart Foundation, Oxfam, Save the Children, Concern Worldwide and KOICA’s local partner Jagrata Juba Shanga (JJS), said a press release issued on Thursday.
BRAC participated as a guest organisation.
The workshop marked the conclusion of a peer-learning process in which participating organisations visited one another’s projects and field-level interventions and shared their experiences and key lessons.
Participants discussed ground-level experiences, good practices and community-based approaches, focusing on how successful initiatives could be adapted to make development interventions more relevant, responsive and sustainable.
The initiative is part of KOICA’s broader efforts in Bangladesh to support sustainable economic growth and improve the socio-economic environment through inclusive and locally responsive development approaches.
Organisations working in areas including health, education, climate resilience, livelihoods and social development exchanged experiences on strengthening community ownership and promoting sustainable development at the grassroots level.
Jihoon Kim, Country Director of the KOICA Bangladesh Office, said that “KOICA aims to bring together the strengths of civil society and diverse stakeholders to deliver more effective, sustainable, and inclusive development outcomes in Bangladesh.” He also emphasized the importance of sustaining successful approaches beyond the project period by strengthening community ownership and local capacity, and building stronger linkages with government institutions, local governments, and other relevant stakeholders.”
Hyunwoo Yang, Deputy Country Director of the KOICA Bangladesh Office, highlighted KOICA’s evolving development cooperation priorities and strategic direction in Bangladesh, including perspectives on upcoming areas of engagement and project initiatives.
Sujin Kong, Deputy Country Director of the KOICA Bangladesh Office, also contributed to the discussions and the exchange of experiences among participating organizations.
