A condemned convict has been hanged at Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur in a case over rape and murder in Kushtia.
Senior Superintendent of Kashimpur High Security Jail Subrata Kumar Bala said death-row convict Sukkur Ali, son of Khayer Uddin of Kushtia district, was executed around 10:01 pm on Sunday.
Gazipur Additional District Magistrate Md Humayun Kabir and Gazipur Metropolitan Police Additional Police Commissioner Rezwan Ahmed were present during the execution.

Kushtia Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal sentenced Sukkur to death in a case filed at Daulatpur police station over rape and murder.
On August 16 in 2018, he was brought to Kashimpur High Security Central Jail.
On December 19 last year, the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence as the president did not grant the plea of pardon of the convict.
