Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has directed authorities concerned to introduce e-learning at least 100 schools in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) within this year by resolving all ongoing issues.
He issued these directives during a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna in the capital on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma, Liberation War Affairs and Disaster Management Adviser Faruk-e-Azam, Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser M. Siraz Uddin Miah, and other officials.

During the meeting, officials mentioned that there are three main challenges in implementing virtual learning in schools within the CHT: a shortage of electricity in remote areas, lack of internet connectivity, and a dearth of skilled teachers to facilitate such activities.
To address these issues, the chief adviser suggested utilising solar panels to overcome power shortages and leveraging mobile networks and Starlink services to establish internet connectivity.
Regarding the shortage of skilled teachers, he proposed creating a list of schools and appointing teachers on a contract basis for a specified period.
Prof. Yunus emphasised the importance of quality education in the region, stating, "A list of 100 schools should be prepared initially, and arrangements for internet-based learning should be initiated there."

He added, "We should identify what each school lacks—be it internet connection, equipment, etc.—and begin work immediately. Classes should commence within this year."
The chief adviser also mentioned that skilled teachers from prominent urban educational institutions would conduct online lessons in mathematics, science, and English for children in the CHT, ensuring they do not fall behind academically.
He expressed confidence that with proper educational opportunities and quality teachers, many talented children from the region could emerge.

The CHT Affairs adviser briefed the chief adviser on efforts to improve living standards, livelihoods, and environmental protection in the CHT.
The chief adviser directed that a comprehensive plan be developed in coordination with relevant ministries to address these issues effectively.
