Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind at many places all over the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9am today.
“The well-marked low over west central Bay and adjoining northwest Bay persists. It is likely to intensify. Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Chattogram, Barishal, Sylhet and eastern part of Dhaka divisions,” said a Met Office bulletin.
Meanwhile, wind direction and speed in Dhaka will be at south/southeasterly (8-12kph) with temporary gusting to 30-40kph, it said.
Light to moderate rain with gusty wind may occur at most places over Chattogram, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country.
Conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest monsoon, the Met Office said.
Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
The maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur while the lowest one today 25C in Gopalganj.
