A man succumbed to burn injuries following an air conditioner explosion at a house in Narinda, Old Dhaka.
The deceased, Mohammad Selim (33), passed away around 10:40 pm on Friday at the ICU of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
Two others, Md. Moktar Bepari (55) and Selina Akter (45), are undergoing treatment for burns covering 22% and 20% of their bodies, respectively.
Assistant Professor Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman of the institute said Selim had sustained severe burns over his entire body and could not be saved.
The three victims had been rescued in a critically burned condition around 1 am on Thursday and admitted to the emergency department.
According to local sources, multiple AC gas cylinders were stored in the house, located on the second floor of a five-story building. The explosion caused walls to collapse, and debris fell on nearby structures. Locals later recovered several cylinders from the site.
The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
