Police arrested a man and recovered nine stolen sewing machines in connection with a theft at a blazer manufacturing factory in the capital's Jatrabari, said a press release issued by DMP on Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Md Saddam, 30.
According to Jatrabari Police Station, the factory owner found nine automatic sewing machines missing after returning from the Eid-ul-Azha holidays on June 5 and filed a theft case.
The stolen machines, including seven of the JACK brand and two of the ZOJE brand, were worth around Tk 270,000.
Acting on intelligence, a team of Jatrabari Police Station arrested Saddam during a raid in the Shanir Akhra area early Thursday.
Based on his information, police later recovered all nine stolen sewing machines from a warehouse in Nurunnesa Market under Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the theft. Legal action against him is underway.
