A 55-year-old man was killed in a clash between two groups of villagers over a football match at Kulshur village in Kalia upazila of Narail district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Zillur Rahman Sardar, 55, son of Anwar Molla of the village.
Local people said a football match was organised at Eklas Uddin Secondary High School ground on Friday afternoon.
There had been long standing enmity between Sheikh Family of Babupur village and Molla Family of Panch Kaunia village over the occupation of the ground .
During the match, the supporters of both locked into an altercation when both groups entered the field, triggering a clash.

At one stage, the supporters of Sheikh Family beat a supporter of Molla Family identified as Jitu mercilessly, leaving him injured.
Angered by the incident, the supporters of Sheikh Family swooped on the house of Mujibur Rahman Sardar, president of Kalia municipality unit Awami League and stabbed Zillur Rahman, cousin of Mujibur, indiscriminately, leaving him injured.
Later, he was taken to the Kalia Upazila Health Complex from where he was shifted to Khulna Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 7:30 pm.
Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Kalia Police Station, said efforts are on to arrest the attackers.
