Police recovered the floating body of a man from Dhanmondi Lake in the capital on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Javed Ahmed, 51, a resident of Block I in Bashundhara Residential Area.
Police recovered the body around 6:40am from the lakeside near Road No. 10.
Dhanmondi police said local people spotted the body in the morning and informed police.
Police later found a National Identity Card in his pocket and informed his family.
His wife, Shahana Jabin Khan, subsequently identified the body.
Officer-in-Charge of Dhanmondi Police Station Mohammad Imdadul Islam said a team went to the spot after receiving the information and recovered the body.
After completing the necessary legal procedures, police sent the body to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, he said.
The cause of Javed's death could not be determined immediately, and an investigation is underway, the OC added.
