Sangsad Bhaban, Sept 10 (UNB) - The State-Owned Manufacturing Industries Workers (Conditions of Service) Bill, 2018 was placed in Parliament on Monday to implement the recommendations placed by the National Wage and Productivity Commission (NWPC).
State Minister for Labour and Employment M Mujibul Haq Chunnu placed the bill and it was sent to the respective parliamentary standing committee for further scrutiny. The committee was asked to submit its report within seven days.
In the objective of the bill, it was said the government enacted the State-owned Manufacturing Industries Workers (Conditions of Services) Act enacted in 2012 for the workers working in state-run industries.
But the act is not sufficient to fulfill the wage structure demanded by the workers, it added.
So, the government has formed the National Wage and Productivity Commission in 2018.
It also mentioned that there is a need for enacting a law to make the wage structure effective.
