Despite the government's acceptance of demands regarding quota reforms, a wave of violence and vandalism continues to sweep through various parts of the country, the Home Ministry has said.
Miscreants are reportedly using ordinary students as shields while attacking, vandalizing, and setting fire to government and non-government establishments, according to a press release from the Home Ministry.
Key targets of these destructive activities include the Bangladesh Television Bhaban, Setu Bhaban, several police establishments, and the Mayor Hanif Toll Plaza. These attacks have resulted in casualties among innocent civilians, law enforcement personnel, and journalists, the statement said.
Law enforcement agencies have so far exercised restraint in dealing with the situation. However, authorities have issued a stern warning that if the destructive activities persist, they will be compelled to take stringent measures to protect the lives and property of citizens.
The government has urged all individuals involved in these activities to cease immediately and refrain from further violence, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and order in the country.
