Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has sought support from Iran and Kuwait on the Rohingya issue as Bangladesh eyes early repatriation of the Rohingyas to their place of origin in Rakhine State.
Momen raised the issue when newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mansour Chavoshi and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bangladesh Faisal Mutlaq Aladwani met him separately at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.
The foreign minister underlined the importance of elevating bilateral trade and economic ties with Iran and also sought the support of Iran on the Rohingya issue.
Momen informed the Kuwaiti envoy of Bangladesh's progress in ready-made garments, shipbuilding and IT areas.
He requested the Kuwait government to invest in Bangladesh and undertake development projects under KDA.
Momen also sought the support of Kuwait on the Rohingya issue and underlined continued institutional cooperation like joint commission meetings.
