Dhaka, Oct 10 (UNB) – Khandakar Mozammel Haque of Feni district and Shahin-ul Islam Chowdhury of Chattogram district have been elected President and Secretary General of Chattogram Bibhag Sangbadik Forum-Dhaka (CBSF) for the next two years (2019-2021).
A 19-member committee was formed unanimously at the Biennial General Meeting of CBSF held at Abdus Salam Hall of the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday.
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud was the chief guest at the inaugural function while Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury and journalist leader Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury were also present at the function as special guests.
A one-minute silence was observed at the meeting to pay respects to renowned journalists of the division, who died recently.
Earlier, outgoing Secretary General Shahin-ul-Islam Chowdhury and Treasurer Shahadat Hossain Nizam presented their reports at the meeting chaired by CBJF President Mahmudur Rahman Khokon.
Besides, the CBJF honoured four renowned journalists of the division -- ABM Musa, Habibur Rahman Milon, Shah Alamgir and Saiful Alam Talukder -- with posthumous awards.
Later, a three-member election commission headed by veteran journalist Meer Mustafizur Rahman conducted the election.
Other officer- bearers and EC members of the CBSF are: Senior Vice-President–Md Mustafa Kamal (Chattogram), Vice-Presidents -Abul Khair (Chandpur), Saidul Hossain Shahed (Noakhali), Joint Secretary General- Ayub Bhuiyan (Feni), Mofizur Rahman Babu (Chandpur) and Didarul Alam (Cumilla) and Treasurer –Kamol Chowdhury (Cumilla).
EC Members: Syed Abdal Ahmad, Tarun Tapan Chakravorty, Firoz Alam Milan, Santosh Sharma, Khurshid Alam, Shahadat Hossain Nizam, Abu Taher, Shaheed Chowdhury, Momena Akhter Poppy, Yousuf Bablu, Jagaran Chakma and Mahmudur Rahman Khokon (ex officio).
