Faisal and Mustafiz, two suspected killers of Jhenaidah MP Anwarul Azim Anar, said MP murder mastermind Shahin had kept them in a flat in Bashundhara residential area in Dhaka before sending them to Kolkata, said Detective Branch chief Mohammad Harunur Rashid.
Shahin also gave them passports along with Indian visa, and Tk 30,000, so that they can escape Kolkata after completing their task and stay safely in Dhaka, he said.
Faisal and Mostafiz, who were arrested from Patalkali temple in the deep forest of Fatikchhari by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)in connection with the murder of the MP disclosed the information to DB police.
Recently, when Faisal and Mostafiz were brought to a court after their arrest, they gave this information in their statement, Harunur Rashid told the media on Thursday.
The DB chief said after their arrest at Patalkali temple, they confessed everything during their preliminary interrogation. “We took the court's permission and interrogated them on remand for 6 days. Both of them told us that it was Shahin who arranged passports and visas for them. It was he (Shahin) who arranged their tickets to go to Kolkata.”
They got Indian visa by making fake documents, fake bank statements through Shahin.
Harun said the DB has been able to arrest seven people so far in connection with MP Anar killing.
Of them, six arrestees gave statements confessing their guilt and efforts are being made to arrest those whose names are coming, he said.
