The Mujib Borsha marks the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
President Abdul Hamid summoned the special session of Parliament, the first in its history, exercising power bestowed upon him as per Clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution, said a Parliament Secretariat handout on Wednesday.
The 10th session (5th session of 2020) of the 11th parliament will start at 6pm on November 8 (Sunday) after a 59-day recess following prorogation of its last session.
On September 10, the 9th session was prorogued after only five sittings due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country. During the 9th session, six bills were passed and three other bills were placed in the House.
In March last, the President had summoned the special session for March 22, but it was not held due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
According to the Constitution, the gap between the end of a session of Parliament and the first sitting of the next session shall not exceed a period of 60 days.
