An 11-member team led by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Shah Mohammad Imdadul Haque is working to coordinate and supervise the administration, police, RAB, naval police, navy, air force, coast guard and all other concerned agencies, said a handout on Sunday.
Besides, district administration and upazila fisheries officials in 36 districts involved in Hilsa conservation carried out different drives properly.
The operation is ongoing, whether the Hilsa fish is being bought or sold or stocked and transported in the hat-bazaar and whether the ice factory is closed in the area.
For supervision, 22 officials of the ministry have been given responsibility for different districts.
On the other hand, eight metropolitan monitoring teams formed by the Department of Fisheries are working to conduct daily surveillance and operations at the fish landing centers, warehouses, markets, super-shops in Dhaka metropolis.
In addition, 5 Divisional Monitors comprising Fisheries Department officials from Dhaka, Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna and Rajshahi divisions have been sent to the control room set up at the Department of Fisheries every day to monitor the field operations and mobile courts and VGF activities.
Besides, a 10-member Central Monitoring Committee comprising the Department of Fisheries is working to monitor and coordinate field operations and mobile courts and VGF distribution among fishermen in round-the-clock liaison with the Divisional Monitoring Team, District and Upazila Fisheries Officers.
