An elderly woman who died with fever and nose sore at Mahakali in Sadar upazila on Tuesday was found to be infected with coronavirus, said, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Faruk Ahmed.
He said the 65-year-old woman died with fever and nose sore on Tuesday after returning home from Narayanganj.
On information, the authorities collected samples from the body and sent those to the IEDCR in Dhaka for test, he said, adding that the samples were tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
Those who came in contact with the deceased woman have already been asked to maintain home-quarantine. Other steps will be taken in necessity, added the UNO.
A total of 24 people have so far been diagnosed with coronavirus in the district while the country’s total confirmed cases are 1572 until Thursday noon.
Bangladesh recorded 60 deaths from the virus infection.
