Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Md Tofazzel Hossain Miah on Wednesday handed over a donation check of Tk 7,56,30,000 from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to the National Heart Institute's “Helpless Patient Service Fund”.
Director of National Heart Institute and Hospital Mir Jamal Uddin took the donation check.
Earlier, in 2022, the Prime Minister gave two more grants of Tk 7 crore to the same fund. In total Tk 14.56 crore has been given as a grant from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to the "Helpless Patient Seva Fund" in the last two years.

The National Heart Institute and Hospital has been running the “Helpless Patient Seva Fund” for free the treatment of poor and destitute patients suffering from heart disease.
Under this, all the medical services provided free of cost to the poor and helpless patients are - placement of rings in the blood vessels of the heart, placement of pace makers, replacement of heart valves, open heart surgery and supply of oxygenator necessary during these surgeries.

From this fund, PDA device closure along with ASD, VSD treatment is being provided to children heart patients.
Apart from this, rings are also being installed under this fund for the treatment of blood vessel block in hands and feet.
