Bangladesh High Commission in London on Saturday observed National Revolution and Solidarity Day with due solemnity and dignity.

To mark the occasion, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom Muhammad Abdul Muhith formally hoisted the national flag at the High Commission premises in the morning.

A discussion programme was held at the High Commission to highlight the significance and importance of the day in Bangladesh’s national history.

The programme began with the reading of messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, followed by the screening of a documentary on the historic events of 7 November.

Prominent members of the Bangladeshi community in the United Kingdom attended the discussion.

Addressing the gathering, the High Commissioner described the historic events of November 7 as an important and significant chapter in Bangladesh’s national history.

He called upon all to uphold the spirit of November 7 and work collectively towards building a prosperous, democratic, equitable and dignified Bangladesh founded on national unity, solidarity and mutual harmony.

The High Commissioner also expressed his hope that, by upholding the principle of “Bangladesh First” and placing the highest priority on national interests, sovereignty and dignity, Bangladesh’s foreign policy would further strengthen the country’s standing and prestige in the international arena.
