The government has extended the tenure of the National Consensus Commission (NCC) by one month till September 15 this year.
A notification, signed by Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid, was issued on Monday night in this regard.
Earlier on February 12, the seven-member commission was formed which was asked to submit its report within six months.
The commission began work on February 15 and its tenure was supposed to end on August 15.
The commission was tasked with considering and adopting the recommendations of the six reform commissions.
Professor Ali Riaz was made the vice chairman of the commission.
The members include Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, the head of the Public Administration Reform Commission, Safar Raj Hossain, the head of the Police Reform Commission, Badiul Alam Majumdar, the head of the Election Reform Commission, Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, the head of the Judiciary Reform Commission, and Iftekharuzzaman, the head of the ACC Reform Commission.
The commission is in discussions with political parties and forces to reach a national consensus for considering and adopting recommendations from the commissions formed for reforms related to police operations, the electoral process, public administration, the judiciary, and anti-corruption measures in light of the upcoming elections.
