The approval came at a meeting of the NEC held at its conference room in the city with NEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the Chair.
“The size of the original revised ADP now stands at Tk 192,921 crore. Of the amount, Tk 130,921 crore will come from local sources, while the rest Tk 62,000 crore from foreign sources,” said Planning Minister MA Mannan while briefing reporters after the meeting.
But the overall revised ADP size has stood at Tk 201,198.56 crore with the inclusion of Tk 8,277.56 crore funding against 103 projects of the autonomous bodies, he said.
The minister said the total number of projects under the revised ADP now stands at 1,846.
According to the Planning Commission, the transport sector received the highest revised ADP allocation of Tk 47,432 crore (24.59 percent) followed by physical planning, water supply and housing sector Tk 26,840 crore (13.91 percent), power sector Tk 23,632 crore (12.25 percent), education and religious sector Tk 20,424 crore (10.59 percent), science and ICT sector Tk 16,791 crore (8.70 percent), rural development and rural institution sector Tk 15,755 crore (8.17 percent ), health, nutrition, population and family welfare sector Tk 10,109 crore (5.24 percent), agriculture sector Tk 6,609 crore (3.43 percent), water sector Tk 6,368 crore (3.30 percent) and public administration sector Tk 5,147 crore (2.67 percent)

At the NEC meeting, it was informed that the ADP implementation rate stood at 37.26 percent with an expenditure of Tk 80,143.06 crore during the July-February period of the current fiscal year. In the last fiscal year, the ADP implementation rate was 94.66 percent with an expenditure of Tk 167,186 crore.
At the beginning of the meeting, the issue of novel coronavirus was discussed for nearly one hour, said Mannan.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the need for not getting panicked rather taking measures to create awareness and contain the Covid-19, he said.
In reply to a question, the Planning Minister said the novel coronavirus will undoubtedly leave some impacts on the country’s economy.
Responding to another question, he said the situation for enforcing lockdown has not come yet in the country to contain the Covid-19.
