Nilphamari has sent 177 farmers to various districts for harvesting paddy following worker shortages due to coronavirus outbreak.
According to district police control room, 84 farmers from Jaldhaka upazila were sent to three different districts, 18 in Gazipur, 29 in Natore and 37 in Cumilla. Nine farmers from Domar upazila to Natore, twelve from Dimla upazila, 14 from Saidpur upazila to Tangail, nine from Sadar upazila to Naogaon and 49 from Kishorganj upazila to Cumilla.
Mokhlesur Rahman, Superintendent of Nilphamari Police, said they assisted the farmers to reach the particular districts as public transport is currently shut.

As per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, they conducted health check up before sending the farmers off, said Civil Surgeon Ranjit Kumar Barman.
