The Agriculture Ministry is still scrutinising the lists of candidates submitted by districts for the appointment of fertiliser dealers, and no date has yet been set for their final appointment.
The ministry also urged all concerned not to be misled by rumours circulating on social media about the appointment date, said a PID handout of the ministry.
The government has initiated the appointment process under the Integrated Policy on Fertiliser Dealer Appointment and Fertiliser Distribution-2026 to ensure smooth and uninterrupted fertiliser supplies to farmers, it said.
The Agriculture Ministry began implementing the new policy in August.
Under the policy, information provided by applicants is first scrutinised by fertiliser and seed monitoring committees at the upazila and district levels. Lists of eligible candidates are then sent to the central level for further verification before the appointment process is completed.
The new dealer appointment process has already generated complaints and discussions among applicants in several districts, with allegations of irregularities and favouritism in some lists.
A decision on the final appointment of dealers will be announced after completion of the ongoing scrutiny, it said.
