Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Md Ahsan Habib Khan on Monday said that there is no pressure on the Election Commission from Western countries - rather, there is a political crisis.
“There is no pressure on us. I don't know if there is pressure on the country. The government will take care of that,” he said.
The election commissioner said this while talking to the reporters after a views-exchange programme marking the upcoming 12th national parliamentary election at the conference room of Khulna Deputy Commissioner this afternoon.

Ahsan Habib said that the EC has not once talked about pushing back the schedule. It wants all parties to participate.
He said if any party applies for pushing back the schedule, EC will sincerely try to consider it in the commission meeting.
The commissioner said with the help of everyone, this commission will set an example for the next generation showing that fair elections can be held through ballot also.

Ahsan Habib hoped that the voter percentage (turnout) would be good in this election.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Dig of Khulna Range Police, Regional Election Officer, Returning Officer of Jessore, Satkhira, Narail, Bagerhat and Khulna districts, assistant returning officers, district election officers, intelligence agency officials and election-related officials were present at the meeting.
