The bankers from the Bangladesh Bank, private and state-owned banks recalled their college days and how they grew through the disciplined academic environment of the country’s leading educational institution.
The CNBL organised the night on Saturday to bring the bankers who are ex-students of the college under one umbrella.
Speaking at the gathering, Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director Khurshid Alam said there were many bankers who were the students of Notredame College, but many do not know each other for of lack communication despite working in the same banks.
“We’ve more than 250 ex-Notredamians in Bangladesh Bank alone, but we had no idea before the Club Notredamians approached us for this event. We’re a great group of talented bankers who have come from the Notredame College,” he said.
“We must continue to communicate with each other and stay under the umbrella of the Club Notredamians,” Alam added.
CNBL President Brigadier General (retd) Md Refayet Ullah welcomed the ex-Notredamians who are now serving the country’s top banks and other financial institutions.
He invited all the ex-Notredamians, especially the bankers, to be members of the CNBL to stay connected with friends and their families.
Renowned banker and former Managing Director of the state-owned Agrani Bank, Syed Abu Naser Bakhtiar, appreciated the CNBL for organising the event in honour of the bankers and ex-students of the college.
“We--the Notredamians—are committed to the development of the banking sector as well as the country’s economy,” he said.
The colourful event, which included a cultural event, was also attended by Bangladesh Bank’s General Manager Mohammed Ishak Mia, Agrani Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Shamsul-Ul Islam, Mutual Trust Bank’s Additional Managing Director Chowdhury Akhtar Asif and National Bank’s Deputy Managing Director Shah Syed Abdul Bari.
