Briefing reporters at its Dhanmondi headquarters, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Banaj Kumar Majumder said during their long investigation, they found the involvement of 16 people in the arson attack on the madrasa girl that led to her death.
Of them, 12 gave confessional statements before the court, he said, adding that they sought the highest punishment for the accused.
The PBI chief said a total of 92 people have been made witnesses in the case and seven of them have already testified before the court.
The other accused to be charge-sheeted are Shahadat Hossain Shamim, Nur Uddin, Imran Hossain Mamun, Hafez Abdul Quader, Iftekhar Uddin Rana, Councillor Maksud Alam alias Moksud, Kamrunnahar Moni, Saifur Rahman Mohammad Zobair, Javed, Umme Sultana Popy, Mohiuddin Shakil, Mohammad Shamim, Abdur Rahim Sharif and Absar Uddin.
On April 6, Nusrat was set afire at an examination centre allegedly by people loyal to the principal of her madrasa after he was arrested and subsequently suspended as she had accused him of sexually harassing her in Sonagaziupazila of Feni district.
She lost her battle for life on April 10 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital.
