The Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, one of Bangladesh's busiest transport corridors, is witnessing growing traffic chaos as the unchecked movement of battery-run autorickshaws (also known as easy bikes) disrupts traffic and increases the risk of accidents.

The situation is particularly alarming around the Kanchpur Bridge area, where autorickshaws are frequently seen driving against the flow of traffic. Wrong-way driving, reckless manoeuvres and speeding have become common sights, creating serious safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians alike.

The illegal movement of these vehicles, whose proliferation is a recent phenomenon in the country, often causes severe congestion at intersections along the highway while exposing commuters to the constant threat of collisions.

Traffic congestion and accidents have become more frequent as the number of these electric autorickshaws operating on highways has increased significantly without effective regulation.
