Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive arrested a man along with 30kg of venison in the Sundarbans area of Dacope upazila in Khulna district on Monday.
The arrestee was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 30.
Tipped off, a team of Coast Guard conducted a drive in Nalian Closure Para around 2 pm on Monday and arrested Mehedi along with the venison, said Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, media officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters on Tuesday.
The seized venison is estimated to be worth around Tk 66,000.
The arrestee was handed over to the Nalian Forest Patrol Outpost for further legal action.
Such drives against poaching and trafficking would continue as part of ongoing efforts to protect the country's wildlife and forest resources, said Sabbir Alam.
