Accurate data is critical in informing the fight against COVID-19, and Facebook is excited to release new insights from global surveys conducted by the University of Maryland, in partnership with Facebook.

The survey shows that in Bangladesh over 64% people that responded to the survey intend to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

People’s willingness to get a COVID-19 vaccine varies widely across the world. For example, average intent in Vietnam is 86%, compared to 72% in India.

As part of the Data for Good programme, Facebook is collaborating with academic partners to invite a sample of people on Facebook to participate in off-platform surveys. 

With over 39 million responses to date in 200 countries and territories since April 2020, this is one of the largest surveys to help health researchers better monitor and forecast the spread of COVID-19. 

The surveys are conducted by our academic partners and Facebook does not receive individual survey responses.  

Supporting COVID-19 vaccination efforts 

Facebook is also announcing different initiatives to support vaccination efforts around the world. It provided $120 million in ad credits to help health ministries, NGOs and UN agencies reach billions of people around the world with COVID-19 vaccine and preventive health information

The social media giant expanded its efforts to remove false claims on Facebook and Instagram about COVID-19 and vaccines.

Over the past year, more than 2 billion people from 189 countries were connected to reliable information about the coronavirus through the platform's COVID-19 Information Center. 

Facebook has removed more than 12 million pieces of content on Facebook and Instagram containing misinformation that could lead to imminent physical harm.

In Bangladesh, Facebook has worked closely with the Directorate General of Health Services and ICT Division to provide health awareness information and connect to government resources, such as corona.gov.bd.

The COVID-19 Information Center is available in Bangla to ensure people can easily access and avail accurate information shared by the World Health Organization and health experts. 
 
Facebook has also a partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, which conducts additionally the local surveys in the US. 

Together, both surveys have already over 50 million responses.
