Rezaul Karim said this while addressing a meeting at Livestock Department’s office in the city on working out plans for the sectors.
“The process to formulate a master plan to deal with the crisis in the sectors is underway and it’ll be ready within a week,” the minister said.
Rezaul Karim also said short-, mid- and long-term plans have been taken to tackle the crisis and make the ongoing activities of the ministry more dynamic.
He said they have sent a proposal to the World Bank seeking about 100mn US dollars under its Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP) as an emergency response fund for poultry and dairy sectors.
A letter has been issued from the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry to the Finance Ministry seeking Tk 5,000 crore for providing loan to fisheries and livestock entrepreneurs.
Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Rawnak Mahmud, Livestock Department’s Director General Dr Abdul Jabbar Shikder, General Director of Bangladesh Livestock Institute Dr Nathuram Sarkar were, among others, present at the programme.
