Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former vice-president of Dhaka City North Awami League unit and valiant Freedom Fighter Md Ali Newaz Khan.
She prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Khan, 66, breathed his last at 9am at a city hospital. He left behind his wife, son and two daughters and a host of relatives and well wishers, according to a press release from the party.
Meanwhile, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader also expressed his profound sorrow and shock at the death of Md Ali Newaz Khan.
Awami League in a press release said that valiant Freedom Fighter Newaz Khan was always steadfast with ideals of Bangabandhu and was a tested leader in the bad days of Awami League.
"His death caused an irreparable loss for Awami League," it added.
