Noor Nahian, founder of the Bangladesh Wheelchair Sports Foundation, works across the country to facilitate sports access for individuals with disabilities. The not-for-profit sports organization won the Joy Bangla Youth Award in 2020. Nahian, the wheelchair-bound cricketer, was one of the 300 young participants at the “Let’s Talk with PM” dialogue held on December 22.
This vibrant young group of young achievers, sports stars, and international award winners were united by a common purpose: direct engagement with the nation’s leader on pressing issues and future aspirations. The interactive dialogue between the nation’s youth and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was an initiative of Center for Research and Information (CRI).

At the dialogue, Nahian spoke to the Prime Minister about various obstacles faced by people with disabilities.
Describing the experience, he said, “Since my work involves sports for the disabled across the country, my question to the honorable Prime Minister was about providing infrastructure facilities enabling those with disabilities to move independently. Even though the government has undertaken several initiatives for the disabled, issues involving infrastructure facilities for them still remain.”
“Responding to that, the Prime Minister assured me that her government will continue to work to improve the quality of life of those with disabilities – to ensure that everyone in the country has equal rights,” Nahian said.
The Prime Minister sounded sincere to the cause, he said.
