Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended support to five-year-old Ratul and elderly water vendor Shahnur Begum after their struggles were highlighted in media reports.
According to a press release, the Prime Minister took notice of a report titled “Family burden on the shoulder of five-year-old Ratul” and directed his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon to take necessary steps to assist the family.
Following the directive, a delegation from ‘Amra BNP Poribar’, led by its Member Secretary Moksedul Momin Mithun, visited Ratul’s family in the Khilgaon Shantipur area of the capital on Thursday. Tarique Rahman is the chief patron of the organisation.
During the visit, the team met Ratul’s ailing father Mohammad Rabbi and conveyed the Prime Minister’s message of sympathy, along with providing financial assistance.
The organisation also took responsibility for Ratul’s education, aiming to ensure his studies continue despite financial hardship.
Later, the delegation visited Shahnur Begum, an elderly water vendor in Agargaon, and inquired after her overall condition, offering support on behalf of the Prime Minister.
Members of ‘Amra BNP Poribar’, including Shakil Ahmed, Farhad Ali Sajib, Sweden BNP leader Sayman Sikandar Pappu, former General Secretary of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Abu Hanif, and JCD leaders M Mesbaul Alam, Mashiur Rahman and Abdullah Al Misbah were present at that time.
