Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday urged students to love and care for all animals while protecting nature and the environment.

He said it is the responsibility of human beings, as the best of creation, to take care of plants and animals and called on the students to show compassion towards animals and never harm them.

The Prime Minister made the remarks when some students from Puthia Girls’ High School in Rajshahi, Savar Girls’ High School in Dhaka, Tejgaon Women’s College and Safiuddin Sarker Academy and College in Tongi met him at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

He urged the students to plant more trees and keep their surroundings clean and free from pollution.

Tarique Rahman stressed the importance of developing responsible habits towards nature, the environment and animals from an early age.

He also urged the students to engage regularly in sports and cultural activities alongside their studies.

The Prime Minister encouraged them to take part in singing, recitation, drawing and playing musical instruments as part of their cultural activities.

He also advised them to practise Quranic recitation.

Highlighting the importance of sports for physical and mental development, Tarique Rahman said regular participation in sports helps keep the body healthy while developing discipline, confidence, concentration and a spirit of teamwork.

A total of 36 female students from classes VI to X and eight teachers of Puthia Girls’ High School, and 50 female students from classes VI to X and four teachers of Savar Girls’ High School visited the Parliament complex.

Besides, 46 students of classes XII and 11 teachers of Tejgaon Women’s College, and 47 students from classes VIII to XII and six teachers of Safiuddin Sarker Academy and College also visited the Parliament complex.

They witnessed the proceedings of the Jatiya Sangsad.

The students expressed their excitement at getting an opportunity to meet and speak directly with the Prime Minister.

They said the Prime Minister’s advice and guidance inspired them and that the meeting will remain a memorable experience in their lives.
